DIY: Gold leaf Manicure

Sunday, March 25, 2012

I was recently looking on pinterest and saw this post and decided to try it for myself.

For this design you need the following items
-Nail polish of your choice
-Gold Leaf flakes or sheets
-Top coat

Here's my process!
I cleaned my nails and applied Butter London's Nail foundation.
I applied Essie's Turks and Caisos
Here's the gold leaf! Be careful because it's messy. I cut small tiny squares and pressed them on my nails.
I painted my entire nail with Turks and Caicos because the gold leaf is very easy to scrape off so when it comes off there will be color underneath. After I applied the gold leaf I used Butter London's top coat to seal the polish and leaf. Voila!I decided to only do my pointer finger because the gold on my whole hand was a bit too flashy for me. Apply as you desire!

Things I love: Reverse cutout dress

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Dress cutouts and the high-low hemline are a huge trend and have been for a few seasons. This dress is the perfect combination of both. I can't wait to get mine!

Digital download: I wanna be your lover by Corinne Bailey Rae

I love this song! Being in love is such a great feeling. I'm a huge fan of Corinne's her music and have all of her albums but this cover is amazing. The song was released on her Love Ep last year for Valentine's day. Enjoy!

Perfect outfit: The Denim Dress

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

I am a sucker for a denim dress. It's what I like to call a "lazy outfit", you just put on one thing and you are dressed for the day. They are also amazing because of their ability to be dressed up or down depending on how they are accessorized. Here are two great options for a denim shirt dress. Which do you like better??

Product Review: Smashbox's Tinted Moisturizer

Monday, March 19, 2012

Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, $30. Smashbox. (Can also be purchased at Sephora)

My newest beauty obsession is Smashbox's tinted moisturizer SPF 15! I turned 26 in January and for some reason I have become really anal about how I treat my skin. As I've gotten older I have noticed the impact of different products that I use on my face and the one that does the most damage is foundation. I have recently searched high and low for a great foundation but they all seem to be really heavy for my face. So I began my search for a tinted moisturizer and I came across Smashbox's tinted moisturizer.

I purchased it at the makeup counter in Nordstroms and I am super impressed. The coverage is very sheer but its the perfect item to balance out your complexion. I apply a light blush after just to give my face color and it can be used over a concealer to provide more coverage if needed.

Pros
-Light weight
-SPF coverage (living in California I need all the protection from the sun I can get)
-Colors for every complexion
-Oil free
-Fragrance free
-A little goes a long way (just need a small drop to cover my whole face)

Cons
-Very sheer (if you are use to a foundation this might take getting use to)

I would recommend this product for people with sensitive skin or those that like to have flawless skin without the heaviness of a foundation.

Have you tried a tinted moisturizer? Which products do you use?
