Almost White

Forever 21 Blondie Tee | American Eagle Shorts | Sole Society Shoes |

Happy Memorial Day!! As much as I'd love to be in Vegas laying out at a pool club I stayed home to finish my grad school applications (a girl has to have priorities).

It's the unofficial start to summer and the perfect time to start bringing white back into the mix. I'm a disaster when it comes to wearing white shirts (makeup stains, spilling drinks, brushing up against everything and anything with dirt on it) so I often gravitate towards graphic tee that might disguise any hiccups.

P.S. - I've entered the Cosmopolitan UK Blog Awards for the Best International Fashion Blog! Click on the badge on the side of my page to nominate me! Thank you in advance for your support!

3 Years and Counting!

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Three years ago, I started this blog expecting to have a small audience of friends and family. I was nursing a broken heart and decided to step out on a ledge (keep reading lol) and create something for myself. I wanted a platform where the things that are important to me are safe and accepted.
Now I have you all as my friends and hope you feel the same way!

I have accomplished some of my wildest dreams by having this blog and each day that I read your comments, tweets, and Facebook messages I am inspired and encouraged to keep dreaming. Everyday I hope that you find this blog as a place to be yourself, a place to find encouragement, and interact with other people that love the same things as you.

Honestly, I can't ever explain how thankful I am for each of you! Lets celebrate the past three years and look forward to the future. You all are my friends and I love you more than any letter or gift could ever explain!

I would love to hear ideas on things you would like to see more on the blog!

Thank You!!

The Line and Dot Summer / Fall &Holiday Press Preview

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Last Wednesday I was invited to Line and Dot's Spring/ fall/holiday press preview and I had the chance to meet the amazing Los Angeles Bollare team and designer April oh.

There are very few collections that can be worn for every occasion and this is one of them! Line and Dot carries pieces that are appropriate for hanging out with friends, going on a date, dressing for an interview, or stepping out on the red carpet. The best part is that everything is affordable and stylish!

Cupcakes and champagne...I'm sure that's what is served in heaven!
Designer April Oh and her assistant (April's skirt is from the line!)
Line and Dot's Spring/Summer collection included bold prints (tropical, Aztec, and tribal). Bright colors and beautiful dresses!
This was my favorite piece from the preview. I will definitely add this to my dress collection.
The fall/holiday collections included textured pieces that can be mixed and matched or worn together. Hues of blue and green were mixed with cream, gold, and black to carry the collection into colder months. There were also hints of fur and leather!

Visit their online shop at (I'll be there when you get there!)

Ask Loretta: How do I prepare for life after graduation?

Thursday, May 16, 2013

"I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities,  and to the most special places your heart has ever known. " ~Author Unknown

During my under graduate ceremony I sat in my seat praying that I wouldn't fall (I tripped...hard) and wondering what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I had imagined that day since I was a kid and now it was here! I felt an overwhelming sense of hope but I was also nervous about that comes next. The president of my college gave a speech titled "you'll be fine" and just like that my fear was lifted and I knew that he was right, I would be fine.

If you are feeling a little uneasy on what to do now that graduation is approaching here are a few tips on how to make the transition from college life a little easier!

1. Network (I like to call it net werking).
In the months leading up to graduation, the primary concern is landing your dream job. If it doesn't happen right away don't be discouraged or settle for a path you are not happy with. The first place to start when looking for a job is with professional contacts you've made through out the years, whether that means emailing people you have interned with, former professors, or previous employers it won't hurt to contact them and set aside time to meet for coffee or dinner and discuss job opportunities. It's beneficial to make bonds with people and let them know what type of job you are in search for. If your contacts don't have job openings right away leave an updated copy of your resume with them and politely ask them to contact you if anything becomes available.
2. Brush up on your interview skills.
Master your 30 second pitch and practice your answers to basic interview questions. If you are extra nervous, video tape your self in a mock interview and ask your guidance counselor to give you constrictive criticism (you'll never guess how many time you say "um" in one minute)

3. Update your resume / portfolio.
Now is the time to make sure all of your contact information, graduation dates, and skill sets are current. If you aren't sure where you are going to live in the next few months rent out a P.O. Box or use a relatives address who has lived in the same location for a long period of time. Looking back over all of your accomplishments will help you see how far you've come and give potential employers a realistic view into who you are!

4. Say thank you.
Send hand written thank you cards to family, friends, former professors and previous employers for their support and helping you on your journey. Being in college is stressful and we can't make it without support from others so be sure to acknowledge those that helped you and pushed you to reaching your goals! (I thanked my mom for continually waking me up right before I spilled soda on myself during midnight cram sessions!)

5. Congratulate yourself: The hours of studying and stressing over school has finally paid off! During my under graduate ceremony, I sat next to a girl who slept during the entire thing! I just kept thinking to myself what a big day we are having and she is spending it sleep. Take a moment to let everything sink in and to be happy for yourself!

Remember, it's perfectly normal to be nervous about the next chapter in your life. Now is the time to be confident, hopeful, and excited for your future!
Relax and remember that you'll be fine! Congrats!

Tropical Takeover!

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Spring's tropical print has everyone dying for a Hawaiian vacation! Seen on almost every runway from Kenzo to Isabel Marant this trend is guaranteed to put you in vacation state of mind. These tropical prints are a far cry from your dads floral print golf shirts (please tell me everyone's dad wears these??) and are now appropriate for the beach or the office!
1. Wasteland Palm Tree Sweater ($62) 2. Vitamin A Cosmo Deluxe Top ($86) & Celebrity String Bottom ($84) 3. Shawlsmith London Jellyfish Scarf ($52) 4. Reef Tropic Vibe Bandeau Top ($36.95) & Retro Pant ($32.95) 5. MIKOH SWIMWEAR Kirra Top ($100) & Dreamland Bottom ($100) 6. Savous Samantha Palm Breeze Skirt ($25) 7. Twistband Tie Dye Summer Hair Tie Set ($6) 8. Equipment Diem Button Down ($218) 9. [BLANKNYC] Tropical Rain The Stick Shift Jean ($88) 10. CIA.MARITIMA Hibiscus Ruffle Top & String bottom ($124) 11. Line & Dot Tropical Paradise Blazer ($98) 12. This is Genevieve Hot Dancer Dress ($110)
Tips on how to wear tropical floral prints:
1. Choose one tropical print and keep everything else simple.
2. Wear it as an accessory. Floral print clutch bags and wedges are adorable and subtle!
3. Wear it where you feel comfortable. Wear this trend to a place where you feel the most comfortable. If you work in a place where bold prints aren't acceptable, keep this look for the weekend.
4. Go monochrome. Pick an item that has a black and white tropical print and pair it with white or chambray to tone it down.
5. Choose a topical graphic top. Like the Wasteland palm tree sweater, you can get the tropical vibe without going full out!
