The Fabulous Girl's guide: Dressing from Day to Night

Friday, October 4, 2013

Shirt with Faux Leather Seams. StyleStalker Skirt.  Nasty Gal Gold Chain Necklace. Freckletone Lipstick, MAC. NYX Pure Red Lipstick. Forever 21 City Chic Satchel. Forever 21 Cuff Bracelet. Nike Blazer Mid Mesh Sneaker.

This fall I'm starting a new job as a product stylist and a grad school program so finding an outfit I can wear to work, school, and hang out with my friends is a pretty big deal. It's hard to look appropriate for all three without driving around with a car full of clothes (I could get dressed for a week out of my trunk!) Wearing a white tee shirt and a black textured skirt allow for a clean foundation to change up your accessories and can be taken from day to night with a simple shoe and lipstick change.
What is your favorite day to night look?

Madison X Blushington "Fall Style Series"

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Fall has always been our favorite season. It's a time to buckle down and get through the goals we set for the year. After summer's laid-back pace, things begin to get more serious. The clothes do, too. We trade in shorts and well-worn T-shirts for suits and tailored coats. And the result isn't limited to an external transformation; suddenly, we have a renewed drive to achieve what we set out to earlier in the year. Madison and Blushington has concocted a quick and simple guide to jumpstarting your closet and looking fabulous! See the entire collection below for expert to-do's and tips to looking good and feeling gorgeous for the rest of the year!
Tip 1: Start your outfit's foundation with a Alexander Wang tee and a statement pair of bottoms.
Tip 2: Nothing say 'school spirit' more than a varsity letterman jacket - a very relevant trend this fall!
Tip 3: Finish the look with a cool and versatile bootie, and a stylish yet functional shoulder/messenger bag.

Tip 1: Use a sheer illuminating tinted moisture, this will give you coverage for school without looking too dramatic & overdone.
Tip 2: Add a little pop of color to the cheek, giving you a fresh face rosy color.
Tip 3: Finish the look off with one or two coats of mascara and lipgloss (choose a color similar to the one used on your cheek!)

Tip 1: Denim is an amazing transitional piece to have in your wardrobe. This Rag & Bone denim jacket with hoodie is just what your closet needs for fall. This number can be paired with a super casual striped top, and a camouflage  bottom gives that 'everyday' look some spunk!
Tip 2: Sneakers are all the rage right now, what better way to tie the entire look with some Golden Goose sneakers. Sure to be a crowd fave, these glittered number is quite versatile and very comfortable.
Tip 3: Finish the entire look with a cool tote - just like the Anine Bing style pictured above!

Tip 1: Use a lighter mousse foundation so you natural skin can show through, add a bit of bronzer for some additional color and a coral pink cheek.
Tip 2: For everyday eyes, make sure you stick to taupe colors, and add a little shimmer in the inner corners of your eyes. Opt for a natural color liner, brown or light gray, and make the eyes pop with a few coats of mascara.
Tip 3: Finish off the look with an added coral lip, matching the color used on your cheek.

Tip 1: Go for the gold and rock a body conscious dress the exudes style and sex appeal. This houndstooth number from Torn by Ronny Kobo is in tune with fall's fashion trends and a true showstopper.
Tip 2: Pair this look with a statement sling-back, this one is by Valentino! Voila!

Tip 1: For your eyes stick with neutral colors. This is the time to amp it up that dark brown all-over eye shadow by making it more of a smokey sultry look.
Tip 2: Line your water line with a black liner to help to make your eyes pop, giving your eye a sexier nighttime look.
Tip 3: Stick to a neutral-fresh cheek by using a peach blush with a touch of bronzer, and then add a nude and peach tone lip.
Tip 1.  You don't have to wear something that shouts holiday to a holiday party . A subtle dress can speak volumes of elegance and party chic just as well.
Tip 2.  Rock an ultra cool shoe number with Jerome Rousseau. This velvet creation is so on trend for the fall, and most importantly, it's comfortable and can be worn after the holidays are over.
Tip 3.  Top the look with a Vita Fede bracelet to complete the entire look with a super simple accent .
Tip 1. Use a heavier of a foundation so it will last all throughout the party of a night and celebration. Try using an oil free foundation to help ensure it lasts.
Tip 2. Go with a smokier eye to dress up the beauty look to go along with your chic outfit.
Tip 3. As berry and plum are the colors of this season, make sure you use a berry blush on the cheeks, and a pigmented plum color for the lip. The dark-rich lip will make your look a little more dramatic, dressed up, and of course festive!
